Purpose:

Facebook is a social networking website — a gathering spot, to connect with your friends and with your friends friends. Facebook allows you to make new connections who share a common interest, expanding your personal network and playing game.

Experiences:

This website is a great way to meet friends and keep up on what they are doing. With Facebook, I can add a friend to my Facebook friend list. I will always know when they are adding things to their blog or updating their profile. In Facebook I can browse the profiles to find new friends, my classmates,co-worker or old friend.

Purpose:

Youtube is a video-sharing website on which users can upload, share, and view videos. Unregistered users can watch the videos, while registered users are permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos that are considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users 18 and older.

As the premier video hosting and sharing website, YouTube has something for everyone. From comedy spoofs to movie clips to music videos, if it has been on video it is probably on YouTube. Beyond just watching videos, YouTube can empower your blog by allowing you to upload videos and place them on your blog using the YouTube widget.


Experiences:

Based on my experience, this website is most popular to upload or download video and I 'm able to:-

• Browse videos based on channel and popularity
• Rate videos by giving them from one to five stars
• Upload my own videos and share them with my friends
• Create video replies to my favorite videos

Introduction to the computer

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:-

1. Explain why computer literacy is vital to success in today's world.
2. Describes the five components of acomputer: input devices, output devices,
system unit, storage devices and communications device.
3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages that users experience when working with
computers.
4. Discuss the uses of the Internet and World Wide Web.
5. Distinguish between system software and application software.
6. Differentiate among types, sizes and functions of computers in each of these
categories: personal computers (desktop), mobile computers and mobile devices,
game consoles, servers, mainframes, supercomputers and embedded computers.
7. Explain how home users, small office/ home office users, mobile users,power users
and enterprise users each interact with computers.
8. Discuss how society uses computers in education, finance, government, health
care, science, publishing, travel and manufacturing.
